Question

What are the configuration options for private WAN interface options for CloudGenix?

Environment

CloudGenix

Answer

The following are configuration options for Private WAN ports:

  • Tags: for organizational and reporting purposes; used by CloudBlade applications for dynamic configuration
  • Scope: An interface can be of local or global scope. When an interface is designated as global, the IP subnet that is configured on the interface gets advertised to CloudGenix. When the scope is local, the subnet is not advertised.
  • Circuit Label: This label uniquely identifies a WAN circuit. The circuit labels that are defined in the site settings are bound to the interface of the ION device that is assigned to the site.
  • Configuration: The IP address configuration can be static or dynamic using a DHCP server.
  • MAC: You can use a custom MAC address.
  • External NAT Address: This field specifies an external NAT address (if behind NAT), although it is not generally required.
  • IP MTU: This field specifies the IP MTU size.
  • Physical: This field specifies the speed and duplex setting.

Additional Information

The private WAN interface is used for the following purposes:

  • Communication with MPLS or across a point-to-point link
  • Establishment of BGP adjacency with a provider
  • Formation of zero-touch VPN tunnels to ION devices with the same WAN label defined on an interface
  • Forwarding of traffic directly to the Private WAN link un-encapsulated or via VPN
  • Support as a sub-interface with native or with a VLAN tag
  • Assignment to a port or a bypass pair
