M-series/Panorama appliance interfaces ethernet1/x configured but not coming up

Symptom


  • Initial configuration of M-series/Panorama appliance after enabling and committing the configuration of the interfaces etherrnet1/1 through ethernet1/4 the interfaces are connected but still not coming up
  • The management interface is configured and up.
  • The collector group is not configured yet.

Environment


  • Panorama M-series/Panorama appliance.
  • PAN-OS 8.1 and above.

Cause


This is by design and is expected behavior for M-series/Panorama appliance with log mode or mix mode (meaning panorama mode)

Resolution


To enable any interface on M-series/Panorama appliance ethernet1/1 trough ethernet1/4:
  1. Configure the Collector group.
  2. Commit to Panorama.
  3. Select Push to devices and Push CG (collector group) configuration.
