Question

Why firewall presents an address bind error when attempting to source a ping from the management IPv6 address?

Answer

Firewall detected a duplicate address. IPv6 Duplicate Address Detection kicks in and when the IPv6 address contention cannot be resolved, the firewall stop sending/receiving IPv6 packet on the management interface.

admin@FW> ping inet6 yes source xxxx:xxxx:xxxx:xxxx::1 host xxxx:xxxx:xxxx::2
ping: bind icmp socket: Cannot assign requested address
