Created new policy in Panorama but unable to push to devices - Validation Error: service ->

Symptom


  • Created new policy in Panorama but unable to push to devices. Already tried renaming the services and object, still same error.
  • For example, commit errored out with this message-
           Validation Error:
           service -> TCP-1022 'TCP-1022' is already in use
           service is invalid
           vsys1
           Error: Duplicate service name 'TCP-1022'
           (Module: device)
           Commit failed
 

Environment


  • All panorama platforms

Cause


  • This means that on the firewall there is already a Service object under Objects -> Services -> TCP-1022 (Locally created on the Firewall) and you are trying to push a duplicate service object from the Panorama with the same name.
     

Resolution


  • Need to delete the local entry on the Firewall in Objects -> Services -> TCP-1022 ,  commit, then push from Panorama
