Question
- Skip Software Version Upgrade can be used to upgrade the image directly without installing intermediate version.
- In this case, is the download of base image of targeted version required for upgrade? Example: When upgrading from 10.2.x to 11.1.1, is 11.1.0 base image required?
Environment
- PANOS-10.1.x or later
- Skip Software Version Upgrade
Answer
- Yes, the base image of the targeted maintenance release still needs to be downloaded.
- The base image does not need to be installed, but it has to be downloaded and present on the device.
- Example: When installing 11.1.1 from 10.2.x directly, download 11.1.0 first. Then we can download and install 11.1.1.
Additional Information
- The reason why we need to download the base image is because the maintenance release do not contain the component of the base image.
