Question

Why is the configuration file size reaching maximum value when the value of objects/policies are within the specified limits?

Environment

  • Palo Alto Networks Firewall or Panorama.
  • Supported PAN-OS
  • Configuration

Answer

  1. There is a predefined section in the configuration.
  2. The predefined section is included in the configuration file size.
  3. For this reason, configuration size reaches maximum limit even though objects/policies are still not maxed out.
  4. The following commands are helpful in determining the config file size.
    •  "show management-server candidate config-size"   >>> Local configuration and Panorama pushed configuration.
    • "show management-server last-committed config-size >>> Local configuration on the Firewall.
