Can we use type m5.xlarge in AWS instead of m5n.xlarge for palo vm and is there any difference we should be aware of?

Answer


- Yes m5.xlarge instance type can be used instead of M5n.xlarge instance type and both the instance types are supported.
- Some of the feature sets in M5.xlarge are different compared to M5n.xlarge instance type  https://aws.amazon.com/ec2/instance-types/m5/. M5n.xlarge supports up to 25GBPS of network bandwidth while M5.xlarge supports only up to 10GBPS but the vCPUs, EBS bandwidth, instance storage and memory support is the same for both instance types  https://aws.amazon.com/ec2/instance-types/m5/.
