- Any PAN-OS version
Resolution
The PA-5400 NC-A includes two form-factor pluggable (QSFP+/QSFP28) 40GE/100GE Ethernet ports, and each interface supports breakout mode to create four 10GE or four 25GE ports each.
Here are a few things to keep in mind when configuring these ports:
- Ethernet 1/25 is mapped to ports 5-8.
- Ethernet 1/26 is mapped to ports 9-12.
- When a physical (parent) port has been decomposed into 4 child ports the parent port is not available (the parent and 4xchild ports are mutually exclusive).
- This means that if Ethernet 1/25 is configured in any way, Ethernet 1/5-8 will be greyed out and if any of Ethernet 1/5-8 are configured then Ethernet 1/25 will be greyed out.
- The port speed configuration options for child ports (i.e. 5-8) are Auto, 25G or 10G and all four ports in a quad group must be configured at the same speed.
Additional Information
- To clear all configuration from a specific port use the CLI command below (where x is the port number):
> configure
# delete network interface ethernet ethernet1/x
- This config deletion can be performed from GUI as well:
GUI: NETWORK > Interfaces > {interface to be modified} > Set the interface TYPE to "none" - If neither CLI or GUI works in deleting config from breakout ports, engage TAC for resolution.
