Panorama GUI fails to respond with "Error-500 Internal Server Error" message

Symptom


  • Panorama GUI slow to respond
  • "Error-500 Internal Server Error" is displayed.

Environment


  • Any Panorama
  • PAN-OS- 9.1.x and 10.1.x
  • GUI Access

Cause


The "web_backend" and "httpd" processes leaked descriptors, which caused activities that depended on the processes to fail.

Resolution


  1. The issue is fixed under PAN-187829 in PAN-OS 10.1.6 and 9.1.16
  2. Upgrade to the above versions will resolve the issue.
  3. Workaround is to restart Panorama.
