Linux users unable to connect to Global Protect using SAML authentication

Symptom
When an user tries to authenticate, with both CLI and UI GlobalProtect application it can either fail authentication or the application gets stuck.
Environment
• PA-VM-300
• PANOS - 10.0.6
• GlobalProtect 5.2.6
• Ubuntu 20.04
Cause
It fails because SAML authentication is only supported for the UI application of Linux machines. However, Ubuntu 20.0.4 only supports the CLI version of GlobalProtect.
Resolution
Use a different authentication method other than SAML or change the OS of the Linux machine that supports UI.
