Objective

There might be use business cases to exempt subnets on network environments where the Equal Cost Multi-Path (ECMP) feature is implemented,  and make them use a static route path, however, under Network - Virtual Routers - Router Settings - ECMP there is no configuration that we can configure to set up exceptions.

Environment

  • Palo Alto Networks Firewalls
  • PAN-OS 9.1.9 or higher version.

Procedure

Configure a Policy-Based Forwarding (PBF) policy for the subnet in question to bypass the routing table and use the policy instead.

Additional Information

Create a Policy-Based Forwarding Rule
