Symptom


  • Added SAML Authentication Profile to the Authentication sequence
  • Commit Failed with Validation Error:
Validation Error:
authentication-sequence -> <Auth-Sequence> -> authentication-profiles '<Authentication-Profile>' is not a valid reference
authentication-sequence -> <Auth-Sequence> -> authentication-profiles is invalid
Commit failed

 

Environment


  • PAN-OS
  • Authentication Sequence
  • SAML

Cause


The commit error is due to the Authentication Sequence containing a SAML Authentication profile in it which is not supported by design.

Resolution


  • Remove the SAML Authentication Profile from the Authentication Sequence.
  • Authentication Sequence only supports Authentication Profiles types LDAP, RADIUS, Local Database, TACACS+, and Kerberos.
