Question


Are Auth codes tied to specific serial numbers, are they serial number specific?

Environment


  • Palo Alto Devices
  • Any PAN-OS.
  • Auth Codes.

Answer


Auth codes are not serial number specific, they are SKU specific.  Meaning they can only be applied to any device of the same model type as noted on Auth code.

Additional Information


Example:  PA-440 auth code can only be applied to a PA-440 Serial number, not a PA-420 Serial.

This applies to support auth codes as well.
