How to check the jQuery version used for Palo Alto Networks firewall

Objective
- jQuery is used in most of modern web content. It is used here for GlobalProtect and Web Management GUI.
- Some vulnerability scanners detect a certain version of jQuery as vulnerable.
- This knowledge will show how to quickly check jQuery version used for Palo Alto Networks firewall.
Environment
- Palo Alto Firewalls
- PAN-OS 8.1 to 11.2
- jQuery
Procedure
- Launch Developer tool of Chrome with "Shift+Ctrl+I" and then access URL of your firewall management GUI login.
- Go to Sources tab > Pages > login > js.
- Then expand "js". There you will be able to find "jquery.min.js" containing the version information of jQuery as the below screen shot shows.
- Alternatively, one can login as root and check the version of jquery.min.js.
- The path of the file is as below:
- Management GUI: /var/appweb/htdocs/js/login/jquery.min.js
- GlobalProtect: /var/appweb/sslvpndocs/global-protect/portal/js/jquery.min.js
Additional Information
- The jQuery versions used in PAN-OS is being updated continually.
- The PAN-OS OSS Listings does not contain all the change histories.
