Symptom


While attempting to license a new instance with VM-50 license in public cloud such as AWS, Azure, GCP it fails with error “License (VM-50) is not valid for xxx instance”

Environment


  • Platform: PA-VM on Public Cloud
  • PAN-OS / Plugin Version: Any
  • Deployment: New

Cause


  • VM-50 is not supported on AWS and other Public Cloud Platforms.

Resolution


  • Currently, VM-50 model is only supported on ESXi, Hyper-V and KVM hypervisors
