Why does Panorama not display Rule Usage column in the policies?

Question


In Panorama, Policies normally should show Rule Usage column, such as in Security policy below:

What could cause these columns not showing in WebUI output?

Environment


  • Panorama
  • PAN-OS 7.1, 8.0, 8.1

Answer


When Panorama is in management-only system mode, it allows Panorama only to operate as a management server without local log collection capabilities, so this information cannot be queried. GUI: Dashboard > General Information provides the information on system mode.
