Static routes not populating in routing table

Symptom


  • Configured static route that uses a tunnel interface is not installed in the Routing and Forwarding tables.

Environment


  • PA-850
  • PAN-OS 8.1

Cause


  • There was a terminal monitoring profile in place with an unreachable destination IP address
  • Run the following command and the output will show tunnel monitoring as being down
> show vpn flow name <tunnel-name>

 

Resolution


Make sure that the destination IP address entered under Network > IPSec Tunnels > General > Show Advanced Options > Tunnel Monitor > Destination IP is reachable
