How to change from "management-only" mode to "logger" for Panorama deployed in AWS

Objective


To change mode from management-only mode to logger mode



Environment


  • Panorama VM with 8 CPU and 16 RAM
  • Supported PAN-OS
  • Logger Mode
  • AWS


Procedure


  1. Change the mode to Panorama mode. Refer Change the mode from "management-only" mode to "Panorama mode" for Panorama deployed in AWS.
  2. Login to the web-gui, for that first configure the password on panorama.
admin@Panorama> configure t
Entering configuration mode
[edit]        
admin@Panorama# set mgt-config users admin password
Enter password   : 
Confirm password : 
[edit]    
admin@Panorama# commit
  1. Login to web-gui with user as "admin" and using the configured password.
  2. License the Panorama and fetch the license.  Its not possible to change mode to logger, without licensing.
  3. Execute command "request system system-mode logger" to change mode from panorama to logger.
admin@Panorama> request system system-mode logger 
Executing this command will change the system to logger mode, logs will be removed. This will restart the system. Are you sure you want to continue? (y or n) 
Broadcast message from root (Fri Dec 27 10:15:31 2019):
The system is going down for reboot NOW!
Changing the mode. System will reboot when done.
  1. Verify if the system-mode has been changed to logger.
admin@Panorama> show system info | match mode
model: Panorama
cloud-mode: cloud
vm-mode: Amazon AWS
system-mode: Logger
operational-mode: normal
