Created On 12/10/19 04:56 AM - Last Modified 06/24/20 02:43 AM

Symptom

Alarm: "Current size of traffic log database exceeds alarm threshold value of total allowed size" is seen continuously in Alarms Logs under GUI: Monitor >Logs >Alarms.

Environment

  • Palo Alto Firewalls.
  • Any PAN-OS

Cause

When the setting of Max Days under GUI: Device>Setup>Logging and Reporting Settings, is not configured the logs are written till allocated disk space is full.
This will cause log messages to be printed in Alarm logs.

The log indicates the system is running out of disk space allocated for that specific type of logs.

Resolution

Configure Max Days under  GUI: Device>Setup>Logging and Reporting Settings.
The Firewall will keep logs for configured Max Days and delete old logs. Releasing the disk space will clear the alarm messages.
