Unable to pass SMB Traffic through the firewall, with traffic end reason "Resources-unavailable"

Symptom


  • SMB traffic failed with  traffic end reason : "Resources-unavailable"
  • Traffic log action is seen as allowed but the end reason says "Resources-unavailable"

Environment


  • PA-3020 
  • PAN-OS 8.1.0

Cause


  • This can by resource exhaustion on the firewall.

Resolution


  •  Work around will be to apply app-override to the traffic 
  •  The issue is fixed in  PAN-OS 8.1.10.
