Symptom


  • Operation Failed: "object already exists." when adding region to a Security Policy

 


Environment


  • Region being added exist under Objects> Regions
  • Selecting the Regions button to add to Source Address field


Cause


  • The Regions button is meant to create a New region object that does not already exist in Objects> Regions. 
  • If you try and select a currently listed Region from the drop down box you will get the error message because it is trying to create a new Region with the name you selected which already exists. 



 


Resolution


To add an existing Region Object to a Security Policy under Policies> Security tab:
  1. Select the Security Policy or Create New
  2. Select Source tab
  3. Click "Add" under Source Address 
  4. Find (or type to search) the existing Region in the drop down list
  5. Click OK
  6. Commit
