Question


Why cannot I see the renewal license on Customer Support Portal under Devices?
Where can I see the Cortex XDR license renewal?
Does the future effective date impact the provision of Device Security and SaaS Inline instances?

Answer


1. Renewal license effective date on a hardware firewall 

When you renew a feature or support license on a Firewall, the Purchase order indicates the license coverage date (Period Covered).

If the renewal license start date is in the future, you will see the renewal license in CSP > Devices only after it kicks in. 
The renewal license activation is automatic, there is no need to activate a renewal license in CSP. You just need to retrieve the new license key on the device on the first day of the renewal period.
Palo Alto Networks Support team is able to see the renewal license start date (effective date on the license).
If you renewed the license for an upgraded version (for example PAN-DB to AURL), or renewed for a different type of support (for example from Premium Support to Partner enabled Premium Support) and you want to use the new feature before the effective date, contact support. 

2. Renewal license effective date on Cloud licenses (XDR, Prisma Cloud, XSOAR)

The renewal license will kick in automatically when the original license expires. You do not need to do anything. 
You can review Active, Expiring, Expired and Future licenses on CSP > Cloud Security.

On CSP > Cloud Services you can see only the active licenses.
On CSP > XSOAR you can see the expired, active and future licenses (called Inactive)

Future effective date on IoT and SaaS Inline licenses will not impact the successful onboarding of these instances. 
Past effective date on any license will not impact the working of the license.
