Objective


How to collect web interface debug logs. This is generally used to isolate web interface related issues. Collect the logs using the process below and upload the logs while opening a support case for faster issue isolation and resolution.

Environment


  • PAN-OS 9.1 and above
  • Web Interface logs


Procedure


  1. Login to the Web UI
  2. Open a new tab in the same browser and navigate to https://<ip address>/debug and hit enter. You should see page similar page as below.

  1. Click Clear debug button to clear any existing debug on the screen
  2. Click Debug check box to enable debug.
  3. Switch to the regular Web UI tab and reproduce the issue (for example, if traffic logs query is taking long, then query traffic logs).
  4. Go back to the debug tab and click the Refresh button.
  5. Uncheck Debug button.
  6. Copy entire debug output and paste it in a text file. Attach it to the case with the timestamp (when the error occurred) gathered in step 5.
    Note: As an alternative, a tech support file can be generated since the debug log will be saved in /var/log/pan/php.debug.log
Note:  Unchecking Minimize Javascript is not necessary unless explicitly requested by support.
