Content Version Not Able to Identify Size and Release Date in Older PAN-OS

Symptom
If the firewall is running PAN-OS 7.0 or older and you attempt to refresh the available dynamic updates by clicking “Check now,” there may not be any newer update displayed. If you manually upload a newer content file and install, the following will be displayed:

Environment
PAN-OS 7.0 and older
No results when checking available dynamic updates
Valid license
Cause
This behavior is due to PAN-OS 7.0 and older no longer being supported.
Resolution
Even though the install shows detail message “Unable to save content info file,” the result is “Successful.” The newer content version is actually installed successfully, and the next step will be to install PAN-OS 7.1.
After the upgrade, “request content upgrade check” will show the information properly.
