Cloud Identity Engine agent connection error Application failed with error: 4317

Symptom


Cloud Identity Engine (CIE) agent is showing Connected for few seconds and Disconnected again. 
The CIE debug log shows the following errors
  
08/13/18 16:34:49:058[Error  646]: Failed to parse JSON message from server Cloud Server
08/13/18 16:34:49:058[Error  623]: WinHttpWebSocketReceive failed with error: 4317
08/13/18 16:34:49:058[Error  769]: Application failed with error: 4317

Environment


  • Cortex XDR
  • Affected Version: Cloud version of TRAPS

Cause


This was caused by user's trying to apply a Cloud Identity Engine certificate that was already installed on another CIE agent.

Resolution


  1. Remove the Cloud Identity Engine certificate from the affected CIE agent.
  2. Generate a new Cloud Identity Engine certificate. For more information refer to Authenticate the Cloud Identity Engine and the agent
  3. Install the new certificate.
