There can be multiple reasons why a GlobalProtect Client installation fails on a Windows machine. In any situation, if an installation fails with no reason given or if an installation is stuck, follow the steps below to find and identify the issue.
Steps
On the Windows machine, open an Event Viewer using the run prompt, as shown below:
Navigate to Event Viewer (Local) > Windows Logs > Application, as shown in the screenshot below:
Click on 'Filter Current Log' in the right pane under 'Actions', and select the following under Filter options:
Logged: Select the time stamp when the GlobalProtect agent issue occured
Event level: Select all
Event sources: MsiInstaller
Leave the remaining filters as default
Once OK is selected, it displays all the event logs related to the application with event source as 'MsiInstaller' as shown below:
