Issue

A software install or download push from Panorama to the device will not complete.

Resolution

  1. Download software in Panorama for the model that needs an update. Go to Panorama > Device Deployment > Software.
  2. Click install. The dialog of applicable firewalls will appear.
  3. Select the device group.
  4. Select either of the options 'Upload only to the device (do not install)' or 'Reboot.device after install.'

  5. If 'Upload only' option is selected software will be available on the device from 'Install From File' option.
    Note: It does not show up under the Downloaded software list on this page.

If an install has been performed without an upload or reboot, a reboot needs to be performed on the device. If the device has 'FQDN' addresses configured, a fqdnrefresh job runs on the device periodically and may conflict with the installation. Check for jobs on the device during the push process. Typically, after a 50% push a job with install_software is seen on the device. The job may fail if fqdnrefresh is in progress. Resolve this by pushing software when fqdnrefresh is not in progress. Alternatively, the upload only option is also suitable over slow links. Software can be installed afterwards with the 'Install From File' option on the device.
