How to Import a Saved Configuration inside the WebGUI

Symptom


  • The configuration is saved previously using (Device > Setup > Operations > Export named configuration snapshot).
  • This document provides instructions for importing the above saved configuration and loading it as the candidate configuration.

Environment


  • Palo Alto Firewall or Panorama
  • Supported PAN-OS
  • Configuration Import

Resolution


  1. Go to Device > Setup >Operations (For Panorama it is Panorama > Setup > Operations)
  2. In Configuration Management section, click 'Import named configuration snapshot'.

  3. In the 'Import Named Configuration' pop up, click 'Browse...', choose the .xml config file and hit 'OK'.

  4. You should see the saved confirmation window, indicating that the config has been imported, click 'Close'.

  5. Next, load the config by clicking on 'Load named configuration snapshot'. Then hit the drop down to choose from the config .xml files ready to be loaded. Click OK.

  6. Next, the 'Config loaded from' will show, confirming that the configuration has been loaded, but not commited.

  7. Lastly, verify the configuration then commit.
