Issue

  • You are unable to access Panorama using the IP address of the Management Interface.
  • The IP address of the Management Interface was changed to an unknown IP address during a recent "commit".

Details

  • You have the ability to log in to VMware ESXi.
  • You have the ability to log in to PAN-OS with an admin account.
  • HTTP 404 error when you try to connect to the IP address of Panorama via HTTPS.

Resolution

  1. Log in to VMware ESXi.
  2. In the left-hand navigation pane, under the IP address of the ESXi server, right-click the virtual machine listing for your Panorama server.
  3. Select the "Open Console" option.
  4. Press the ENTER key.  You should see a log in prompt.
  5. Enter the user name of your admin account.
  6. Enter the password of your admin account.
  7. Enter "configure" at the PAN-OS command prompt.
  8. Enter "load config version <value>" at the command prompt.
NOTE: "<value>" should be equal to the second most recent configuration version number.  The most recent version number is the running configuration.  Example = config versions 1 - 20 exist on your firewall.  Use the command "load config version 19" to load the second most recent configuration file.
  9. Enter the "commit" command.
  10. Log out of ESXi.
  11. Make a HTTPS connection to the IP address of the management interface of your Panorama server.
  12. Log in to Panorama with your user name and password.
