Operation Failed Error: Reading From The Stream Has Failed""

Issue

Sometimes when accessing the Device > Software page on a new Palo Alto Networks device, the "Reading from the stream has failed" Operation Failed error message appears, as shown below:

Cause

This occurs because the device has never contacted the update server to receive the available updated software versions.

Resolution

To resolve go to Device > Software, and at the bottom of the screen click the "Check Now" button manually for the first time to populate the available software.
