Overview

If the url is already known on the disk database, then it should be resolved as Base DB. If the URL is not available, it would access the Cloud DB to fetch the information. Once obtained, an entry is made into the Dynamic DB.

Note: For information on how to verify an URL categorization, see How to Verify URL Categorization: Data Plane and Management Plane Differences.

Viewing the BrightCloud URL categorization statistics may determine if the three databases (base, cloud and dynamic) are working as expected and help isolate an issue during troubleshooting.

Details

To view the BrightCloud URL categorization statistics run the debug device-server dump dynamic-url statistics command.

For example:

> debug device-server dump dynamic-url statistics

Cloud connection: success

Resolved By      Count

---------------- ----------

Base db          35

Dynamic db       4

Cloud db         3

Total URL processed: 42

Total URL received: 42

Total URL request loss: 0

Accessing new sites will cause the statistical numbers to vary according to the URL database the information is fetched from. The URL received and processed numbers should be the same and the URL request loss should be 0 to indicate that all requests were processed.
