Steps

  1. Connect a console cable to the Palo Alto Networks device. Use either Hyperterm, Putty, SecureCRT or Teraterm (9600,8,n,1). Power up the device.
  2. Login using the default admin credentials. Enter the configure mode by typing configure, at the # prompt set the device IP, netmask, gateway, and DNS primary server and internal update server.
    Use the following CLI commands:
    # set deviceconfig system ip-address netmask default-gateway
    # commit

  3. Import the PAN-OS to the device:
    > scp import software from <username@host:path> <enter>
    > request system software upgrade-to file PANOS_4000-x.x.x
    > show jobs processed (verify that install has completed with a fin).
    Reboot device.

  4. After the device is back online, login through the console and verify that the upgrade and AutoCom was successful.
