Overview

The Log storage on the Palo Alto Networks firewall has been configured with predefined values (Quotas) for various logs such as:

  • traffic log
  • threat log
  • configuration log
  • syslog

In some scenarios, these values need to be modified based on logging options configured on the firewall. Some times the traffic logs or the threat logs will require more space, whereas other logs will not require the space configured by the default. This document describes how to manage the log DB quota values on such occasions.

Steps

  1. Go to Device > Setup > Management
  2. Click on Logging and Reporting Settings, this will bring up the window with the configured default Log DB quota values. The window shows the total space available on the firewall, along with the allocated and unallocated disk space:log_cap1.PNG
  3. Edit the percentage of the Quota based on the requirements for the various logs. After making the required changes, click on OK and commit the changes to the firewall:

Note:  Always leave the Unallocated space value more than 9% for efficiency

  4. However, if changing the values, change the log DB quota values back to default and click on the restore defaults, which will restore the default values:
