Resolution

Immediately after restarting, every Palo Alto Networks firewall performs an auto-commit. This takes place in the background and can last up to 30 minutes. The firewall can be accessed from the management interface during that time, but the data plane will be down and the physical interfaces will be down.

To check the status of the auto-commit on the CLI, run the following command and look for the AutoCom job:

> show jobs processed

Enqueued  ID  Type     Status  Result  Completed

-------------------------------------------------

10:25:02  1   AutoCom  ACT     PEND    26%

To view the commit progress on the Web GUI, click on Tasks at the bottom right of the screen:

Important! During the auto-commit process, it is important not to restart the appliance and not to commit changes. If changes need to be applied, wait for the auto-commit to complete first. Applying changes while the auto-commit job is running might cause problems.
