Overview

A URL Filtering Profile on the Palo Alto Networks firewall can have URLs that contain Japanese characters in the allow/block list and custom category.

Details

For example, the firewall administrator would like to block the following URL: ar.aichi-u.ac.jp/iri/日本語ディレクトリ/.

The web browser encodes the path to percent-encoding automatically. In the block or allow list of the URL filtering profile, add the url in the percent-encoding format, as shown in the screenshot below:

To verify the configuration, check the traffic logs to see if the URL was matched as expected:
