GlobalProtect Error During Installation: An instance of GlobalProtect is already present on the system.""

Issue

After un-installing the GlobalProtect client and trying to install a new client the following message appears:

"An instance of GlobalProtect is already present on the system. Uninstall the current version before attempting to install the new version of GlobalProtect"

Resolution

1. Remove the registry items within the following registry path (Windows OS):
   HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Palo Alto Networks\GlobalProtect\PanGPS
2. Run the following command as an administrator from the windows cmd line:
   sc delete PanGPS
3. Reboot the machine.

This will completely remove the GlobalProtect client from the machine and will allow users to install the new client without any issues.
