Overview

This document describes how to redistribute a static route into the FIB/Routing Table using OSPF on the Palo Alto Networks firewall.

 

Steps

  1. Create static route under the virtual routing window.
    1. Go to Network > Virtual Routers.
    2. Click Default > Static Routes.
    3. Add any static route needed.

  2. Create a redistribution profile.
    1. Go to Network > Virtual router and click "default." Then create a redistribution profile as shown.

    2. Enter a profile name and enter a value for Priority.
    3. Enable the Redist option for Redistribute.
    4. Under the General Filter tab, select "static" and "connected" for Source Type.

    5. Click OK.

  3. Create an export rule under OSPF router configuration and map a redistribution profile, as shown below.

    Note: Either "Ext 1" or "Ext 2" may be selected for New Path Type.
  4. Commit the changes.

 

After completing these steps, any new static and directly connected route is automatically redistributed through OSPF.
