Can PaloAlto Networks firewall allow/block uploading/downloading file based on filename?

Environment


  • Palo Alto Firewalls
  • PAN-OS  8.1.x, 9.1.x, 10.1.x
  • File Blocking Profile

Answer


No.  The File Blocking Profile can only identify specific file types, not filename as shown below:

GUI: Objects > Security Profiles > File Blocking > Add
