Created On 05/08/20 17:13 PM - Last Modified 05/08/20 18:07 PM

Symptom

Due to the enhanced security on macOS Catalina 10.15, users may encounter the following pop-up messages requesting permission:

"GlobalProtect" would like to access files in your Desktop folder
"GlobalProtect" would like to access files in your Documents folder

Environment

GlobalProtect
macOS Catalina 10.15

Cause

Starting with macOS Catalina 10.15, Apple introduced a security enhancement to ensure that your data is protected while using third-party applications. By integrating with a third-party SDK, GlobalProtect is now required to request your permission before attempting access to files and folders stored in your Documents, Desktop, and Downloads folders and network drives.

If your system administrator has enabled HIP checks, new permission pop-ups appear on your macOS endpoint when GlobalProtect requests access to certain files and folders stored in your file system.

Resolution

In the following permission pop-ups, click OK to let GlobalProtect to access the files and folders stored in your file system:
